President Barack Obama said Saturday he's seeing "unprecedented consensus" behind overhauling health care, though he acknowledged continued partisan gridlock in Congress.
Instead of the universal tributes that often come with the Nobel Peace Prize, President Obama receives deluge of responses similar only in their intensity.
Opposition to President Barack Obama's health care overhaul has dropped dramatically in the United States in just a matter of weeks, the latest Associated Press-GfK poll has found. Still, Americans remain divided over complex legislation that Democrats are advancing in Congress.

justwantitover,
Some time ago you left me the comment quoted below and i just now realized/received it. I agree with most of what you said, and i am right there with you about wanting it to be over. As formally serving in our military i know the negative effects congress can cause and in impede our military from doing their job.
But a few thing that you may have be neglecting:
~ the vice Pres. resides over and is in charge of congress.
~ just as NAM, the V.P.'s associated company gained majority of the military contracts, and therefor profited Immensely. ~ johnson-n-johnson: lady bird johnson n Vice P lyndon b johnson ~ dick cheney n halliburton~ unfortunately certain elected people in our government are blatantly capitalistic, and decisions are made for profit, or more correctly stated: to allow certain people/groups to profit.
~ also all our military colleges documented how much of a money pit iraq would be to our country by doing what we just did in iraq during "desert storm." ~This information unfortunately illustrated the profitability for the war profiteers. ~Chaney got busted removing and destroying this information a few yr ago; only a few volumes remain.
if it was a legit war for legit reasons there would not be so much conflicted information, proven lies feed to the american public. ~ also majority of senior military leadership would not have refused to do what they just did, n took early retirement.
And as far as your comments about Afghanistan:
~ they allowed the afgan drug trade, just as in NAM, to explode to allow the other side to fund and continue the war. which help them continue to profit.
~ war is the most profitable industry! ~ war is nothing but a huge chess game between the supper rich, they pay both sides to profit. History and economics has proven this time and time again.
but like you i want this over all the same!
AK
The main reason we took the fight to Iraq has nothing to do with Hussein and all his UN violations. We simply knew Russia had problems fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan it's their turf and since we are not allowed to simply bomb the area and level it. (thank Congress, UN and all those who never thought we should have fought back) We took the fight to the flat land of Iraq to get them to fight on are turf.
If everyone in congress would just shut up and let our military do what it is capable of we might never have gone into Iraq but when Congress steps in to make military decisions for them we end up with what we've had in the past NAM 2. You cannot fight a battle when you have to ask permission to fire back.— ak47kl

Blue,
Yes she was found to have broken an ethics code, NO LAW, after being investigated by an unbiased (not) bipartisan committee led by a Democrat looking for all the attention he could get by doing it to help himself and his man's campaign.
They felt she abused her power but BROKE NO LAW! Do you really think she is the only Governor to dismiss/fire/terminate a board member that didn't agree with them and couldn't get what they wanted from them? Or just the first one you Democrats decided was wrong for doing it?
You seem to except it when a Democrat does wrong, say hide payoffs in the freezer, fire aides after playing with them because they have a new one even though they are married, or re-elect a coke user to his previous position as Mayor.
Republicans don't accept it and will vote them out and keep them out.

Dear Over:
I agree with you that the governor can fire anyone he or she likes. However, motive and methods matter. When evidence is present that the firing was personally motivated and pursued, then that official has violated the Alaskan Ethics in Government Act.
For example, you as an employer are free to fire any employee. However, if the firing were in fact to get rid of an employee accusing sexual harassment against a supervisor, then that would be unethical and unlawful. Motive and methods matter. The governor broke her oath to the people of Alaska, in the opinion of the investigator and the unanimous bipartisan committee charged with the investigation.
